When I conceived this programme with accordionist Théo Ould, a musician of remarkable eclecticism and sensitivity, we both wanted to make a dual link with the polyphonies of the past and with musical creation.
Two old masters of composition, Giacomo Carissimi and Johann Sebastian Bach, soon came to mind, whose writing could both magnify our formation - eight mixed voices from Ensemble Sequenza 9.3 and an accordion - and nourish a fertile process of creation.
This luminous past is matched by two contemporary aesthetics: the poetry of composer Philippe Hersant and the sonorism of Lithuanian composer Justė Janulytė; two artists with whom I have cultivated a loyal partnership for several years.
