Three colors of a day is the fruit of an encounter, a companionship: that of Ensemble Links and Ensemble Sequenza 9.3, committed to creation and driven by a shared desire to venture beyond their artistic boundaries. Together, the two ensembles have plunged into the powerful, hypnotic world of minimalist music. Using the vocal and instrumental elements of Steve Reich's Proverb as a starting point, they co-wrote a program in which voices, keyboards and percussion would sound - together and separately - under the dual direction of Rémi Durupt and Catherine Simonpietri.
In this transdisciplinary project, the percussion of Links and the voices of Sequenza 9.3 meet the calligraphy of artist Juliette Baigné. The panorama of music by Gavin Bryars, Bryce Dessner, Frederic Rzewski and Eliott Cole is joined by a new work by composer Trami Nguyen. Her piece, Œil du limon, will be inspired by shamanic trance and marked by a strong meditative dimension - echoing the subtle enchantments of minimalist music.
